Bacon can take a long time to crisp up in the oven and even in air fryers in some cases.

That’s why one mum has turned to her microwave to make perfectly crunchy rashers, and she’s shared exactly how she does it.

Mayra Wendolyne is a viral TikTok cook who describes herself as a “low carb and keto recipe developer and mama”.

The cooking expert, known as @lowcarblove, often takes to her page on the social media platform to showcase her unique methods in the kitchen.

One of which is using a combination of kitchen roll and a microwave to whip up irresistibly crispy bacon.

In a video posted by Mayra, she tempted followers by showing the results of her microwave hack.

The bacon rashers had a deep pink and reddish-brown colour on both streaks and an undeniable crunch when Mayra bit into them.

To copy her method at home, start by choosing your bacon. The TikTok star opted for uncured, streaky smoked bacon which seemed to work very well.

Next, place four strips out next to one another on a sheet of kitchen roll and place another sheet on top.

There’s no need to place the bacon on a plate or anything, just the towel will do. Next, microwave the bacon on full power for three minutes, just like Mayra did.

When the timer is up, remove the bacon from the appliance and check it. If it needs longer, return to the microwave for an extra one or two minutes.

Mayra suggested switching the paper towels for new ones at this point for the best results – either just the top one or both would work.

The TikTok star noted: “The paper towels help absorb all the fat and you end up with super crispy bacon.”

Despite being a less conventional cooking method for bacon, many people took to the comments to share their love for microwaving the meaty rashed.

Several people claimed that microwaving bacon is the “only right way to do it”.

One person found it to be a revolutionary way of cooking and commented: “Ever since you mentioned this I never went back to cooking on the stove – it comes out perfect every time!”
